Emir of ilorin turbans new Balogun Alanamu…

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, on Friday 6th May 2022 turbanned Dr. Usman Abubakar Jos as the 12th Balogun Alanamu of ilorin, Kwara State.
Brief about the Title “Balogun Alanamu”….
Balogun Alanamu is one the cabinet members of the Ilorin Emirate Council and a king-maker, in Kwara State.
They are also referred to as war-lords that fought several wars over hundreds of years ago to protect and sustain the dignity and integrity of the Ilorin Emirate with other traditional title holders.
The title of Balogun Alanamu has being in existence since 1836, when the first Balogun, Yusuf was installed by Emir of Ilorin, Shitta.
The Balogun Alanamu has had 12 occupants of the stool that include.

4. Ali Inakoju 1875-1910
5. Gbadamosi 1910-1915
6. Muhammad Adedigba 1915-1920
7. Mamudu 1920-1947

12. Abubakar Usman Jos 2022- Date
About the Installation…
The new Balogun Alanamu was installed at the Emir’s Palace. Dr. Usman, a senior lecturer at the University of Ilorin succeeds his late father, Alhaji Abubakar Jos, who died on 4th April 2022 at the age of 97.”
The statement however enjoined sons and daughters of Emirate were also part of the historic event in line with the culture and tradition of the ancient city.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari prayed Allah to grant the new Balogun Alanamu long reign on the throne as of the senior counsellors and kingmakers in the Emirate.
