Keffi town in Nasarawa State was agog on Saturday, 18th December, 2021 as the 15th Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa 111 marked 6th year anniversary of his reign.

The grand celebration, though low-key, was well attended by illustrious sons and daughters of the Emirate and had featured different colourful events to mark the day.

The one day activity had drawn important personalities from all walks of life, while traditional culturalists entertained the large gathering both at the Mini Durbar and the Royal Dinner.

Early morning, the Emir along with his August visitor, the Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril attended a function with His Excellency the Governor of Nasarawa state, Eng. Abdullahi Sule, as part of activities marking the celebration.

Then came a mini durbar organized by some illustrious youth of the Emirate that featured the traditional horse riding from an axis of the ancient town to the Emir’s palace where beautiful symbols and high touch of colourful cultural and traditional heritages were abundantly displayed.

District heads, traditional title holders and other Royal blood rode on horse back paying homage to the reverred Emir of Keffi in a show of unalloyed loyalty, love and respect.

Thousands of good people of Keffi gathered in mamouth crowd to witness the historic display of culture that symbolises the rich tradition of people in the Emirate.

Shortly after the Mini Durbar, Dr.Shehu Chindo Yamusa 111 took up to Tukur and Tukur Farms located at Gora along Abuja-Keffi road for the Groundbreaking ceremony of the Tukur Buratai Research Centre.

The event was well attended by distinguished personalities across different strata of life with the former Chief of Army Staff and current Ambassador to the Benin Republic, Lt.Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai acting as the host

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Nasarawa state and Ajiyan Keffi was also in attendance along with the former Governor of the state and Senator representing Nasarawa West, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu at the Groundbreaking ceremony.

Also in attendance was the Senate Committee Chairman on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, Serving and Ex military senior officers, Diplomats, Academics and officers from the Tukur Buratai Foundation across the country.

The Emir of Keffi who served as the Royal father of the day assured that the centre will receive necessary support and cooperation from the Nasarawa State University where he is serving as Chancellor.

He particularly expressed appreciation that the centre was sited in his domain which will in turn attract various scholars and researchers across the world to the ancient city of Keffi.
