Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, The Groom also Turbaned As Talban Daura

Muh’d Dahiru Yusuf – 23rd August 2021

Prior to his grand wedding, Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari was turbaned as the Talban Daura. Yusuf Buhari’s turbaning during the Eidl-Kabir festivity was announced by the President’s Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The First Son was turbaned alongside Musa Daura, who is now the Dan Madamin Daura. The Talban Daura is a top traditional position in Daura Emirate of Katsina State, reports say.

It may be recalled that, last August, Emir of Daura, Umar Farouq, had also conferred the traditional title of ‘Talban’ on the President of Guinea, Alpha Conde.
Farouq said the title was conferred on President Conde in recognition of the love he had for Buhari.

Explaining the reason for his action, Emir Farouq had said, “President Conde left all his schedules in his country to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with his counterpart, President Buhari in Daura.

With controversies generated by the conferment of the ‘Talba’ title on Yusuf Buhari, the Emir of Daura has clarified that the ‘Talban Daura’ chieftaincy title conferred on Yusuf Buhari, is different from the ‘Talban Hausa,’ given to Alpha Conde, the President of Guinea.
