Ganduje Publicly Recognizes Sanusi as Emir of Kano…..
Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Tuesday publicly acknowledged Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the Kano State Council of Chiefs.
Ganduje recognized Sanusi during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, held at the Government House in Kano.
In his remarks, Ganduje greeted Sanusi using his full traditional title—a move that drew loud applause from dignitaries and attendees. This marks the first time he has openly acknowledged Sanusi in that role since their widely publicized fallout.
Back in 2020, while serving as governor, Ganduje had deposed Sanusi as Emir. However, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf later reinstated him, removing Aminu Ado Bayero, whom Ganduje had appointed as Sanusi’s replacement.
Bayero, however, refused to step down, amid claims he had the backing of Ganduje and the Federal Government.
The situation shifted again when Governor Yusuf defected to the APC months ago. More recently, Sanusi was allowed to hold the Sallah Durbar—unlike in the past, when the event was banned following violence and he was questioned by police.
